Some local organisations I volunteer with.   If you happen to be in the area, please think about visiting or supporting them.

Lakeland Wildlife Oasis www.wildlifeoasis.co.uk

This small zoo is operated by the Lakeland Trust for Natural Sciences Limited, a registered charity, and is a member of BIAZA, the British & Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums.   Their work in international breeding programmes for endangered species includes their care of 2 snow leopards, Tara and Pavan, who in May 2014 became the proud parents of this little pair.

Quaker Tapestry Museum www.quaker-tapestry.co.uk

The tapestry is made up of 77 panels stitched by communities all over the world between 1981 and 1996.   As well as its value as a piece of community art and craft, it tells stories of events, places and people.   The museum also undertakes learning and heritage events for the wider community.

Abbot Hall Art Gallery www.abbothall.org.uk

The gallery is housed in a beautiful Georgian house in Kendal and hosts exhibitions of national importance throughout the year.   The permanent collection includes works by JMW Turner, John Ruskin and John Constable.   Learning events for both adults and children take place year round also.
